2009 Avanti Christmas Reunion
At the Avanti Café & Pasta Restaurant, 63 Macgregor Tce Bardon. It was a terrific evening and all said the food was excellent. Present were John and Carolyn Cloake, Adrian and Beverley Crowe, Barney Davoren, Daryl Dwyer (Margaret was ill and couldn’t come at the last minute), Leo and Dell Freney, Neil and Cathy Gottardo, Dallas and Lyn Graham, Peter Grehan, John and Margaret Howard, Robert and Patricia Ingham-Myers, Jim & Sophie, John, Kevin & Eileen Kelly, Bob and Carolyn Kretchmann, Dave and Veronica McCarthy, John and Joyce McCormack, John Murray, Bob and Christina Nash, Peter Palmer, Jim Wheatley, and Ian Wood.
Adrian and Bev are moving from Nundah, the old family home, to a flash unit on the 13th floor at South Port. They plan to finish the move on 16 December 09 – Good luck.
Daryl Dwyer’s wife Margaret was sick couldn’t come at the last minute but is on the mend.
Leo and Dell are looking forward to the arrival of their son and his family from Eastern Europe for 5 weeks over Christmas.
Neil and Cathy Gottardo turned down a niece’s wedding invitation to attend and had a great night. Good on you Neil & Cathy.
Peter Grehan was down from far North Queensland for a week and was expecting to catch up with Dela on the night – see Apologies further on. Peter returns home on Sunday. It was great to see you again Peter.
John Howard hadn’t been to an NC62 Reunion for 47 years so there was a lot of catching up to do for he and wife Margaret with and between all and sundry.
Bob and Patricia Ingham-Myers couldn’t stay late as Bob was getting up early on Sunday morning at 3:15 am to watch the Wallabies beat Wales.
Kev Kelly was recovering from a solid round of golf that afternoon. He also does meals on wheels and helps our at the local Church.
John Kelly had some trouble finding Avanti’s but really enjoyed the tucker when he arrived – better late than never John, good on ya.
The Kretchmanns had a great evening too with plenty of pleasant banter and recanter. Dave and Veronica McCarthy had to reluctantly leave early at 9:30 pm to pick up their son at the Airport.
Christina Nash had not been to our Christmas Reunion before and she and Bob seemed to have a terrific time.
John Murray enjoyed himself and is going to try and persuade brother Michael to come along to one or two of our reunions next year.
Peter Palmer had lots of stories about brother John and son James.
Ian Wood is going well and had plenty of chat on the night as did
Jim Wheatley who is hoping you will have your comment / story for Our NC62 50th Reunion boob in to him??

-- Hey Jim better get the record straight my birthday is 19 Nov so please have the present delivered on that date and make it a good one (A gold Rolex is OK) Helen & I are currently in our motorhome with 4x4 and tinnie towed behind. Would appreciate your passing onto all our best regards next weekend (in very special particular, a bloke who was a caring fella in my days of darkness - Len McKeering). We won't be there. On Saturday we are part of our church Family Group's working bee at the home of a member who has lost a leg and is facing heaps more, and on Sunday we'll be at the Christmas break-up barbeque of that same and very special group of people. -- Jim I forgot to ring you the other day. Sorry! It was a crazy day because our Irish family were flying out after a three-week visit and I didn’t access the emailed reminder to phone you until yesterday. I guess you are following up on attendees for the Christmas dinner this weekend. We will be apologies as we are in Dalby as Jimmy is on call. I’m sorry we won’t be there. It’s a night we always enjoy but through circumstance we have missed the last few. From 2010, Jimmy is spending all weekends in Brisbane – slowly disengaging from work, although he will still do a few days in Dalby each week. -- Dela and Carmel regret that they can’t attend due to a more pressing engagement – their son Brendan (NC 1997 to 2000 Tight Head Prop in Undefeated NC 1st XV 2000. He and Rocky Elsom played that year for the Australian School Boys) is getting married to Adelaide McDonald (from “Brightlands” Stn Cloncurry. An accountant with BDO Kendalls and good looking too) at 3:00 pm in the Nudgee Chapel with the Reception after in the Members Bar at the Tattersall’s Club in City. Remember that we are getting older and some of us are dropping off the perch so keep the other guys happy .. do it for them i.e. get along to meet and greet at NC62 Reunions more!
