News Snippets –
Paul Lupi reports that on Friday 18/7/08 Noel Humphreys, John McCormack, Barney Davoren, John Cloake and Himself met for lunch at the Stanley Hotel Kilcoy. A great time was had by all as they discussed many and varied topics. It was decided that at the next lunch they would have a fund raiser to get Jim Kelly a “spell checker” for his computer. They drew straws to see who would inform Jim of this and Paul lost.
Jim Kelly says thanks Paul, that’s terrific- feedback and all donations gratefully accepted.
Chris Wadeson had lunch with Dela, Jim Kelly and Adrian Crowe at Tatt’s Mixed, Healy Room at Noon on Tuesday 22 July. Peter Cleary couldn't stay for lunch but popped in for a good chat. Chris and his family were on their way to Port Douglas for a few warm weeks in the away from that icy Christchurch KIWI town
At the Nudgee First XV’s final match, Scrooge and Dela did a lap of Ross Oval and sat on the Small Stand under the trees. They saw a few teacher and chaps like Ron Uhr from NC63 but no NC62 blokes!
Were were you Wade
, Chagoury, Crowie and
John Kelly
to name a few?? John
Howard
said he was coming down for the match, to help push the team over the line, as
well. Great job John.
Some
felt that Br
Wall,
RIP, guided that dropkick, after the bell, through the posts to win the match.
Greg McDermott reckoned that Crowe’s comment and the 2008 Nudgee rugby, see attached, results were reminiscent of 1962 v BBC & John O’Brien’s Field Goal! Good on ya John
Crowie and Clarke thank you for the work and time you put in during the GPS season, in e-mailing the results weekly and the Stirling job done.
Br Wall RIP - You will be saddened to learn of the recent death of Br Wall
Br Vick Larkham advises that Br Wall died aged 88 in the Holy Spirit Hospital on Friday, 25 July 2008. Br Vick was with him and said he passed peacefully. His funeral was on the following Wednesday, 30 July 2008 at the Nudgee Chapel. He was buried in the Christian Brother’s plot at the Nudgee Cemetery
For the last 3 years Br Wall had resided at the Carseldine Aged Home. Many of you will remember Br Wall from your tour of the Nudgee Archives at our NC62 40th and 45th Reunions. Br Wall, a champion of and the reason for the Nudgee Archives, was associated with Nudgee for 27 years and was Manager of the First XV for some time. May he rest in peace. Please remember Br Wall in your prayers.
You will also be saddened to learn of the death of Timothy Clifford on 6 August 2008. Tim was aged 63 and lived at Pelican Waters. His funeral was held on Tuesday 12 August 2008 from St Bernard’s Catholic Church Clump Rd Upper Mt Gravatt.
The Church was full with over 100 mourners. Tim’s brother, Ellis Clifford, was the celebrant accompanied on the altar by Bishop Gerrick and Frs Joe Oudeman, Ian Wren, Kerry Bliss and Kev Ryan. Nudgee representation included Tony Walsh, Kevin and Jim Kelly from Class of 1962, John Daniels, John Lutteral, Jim Grey and Tim’s other brother Neville Clifford, of course
Tim’s eulogy will be provided in due course for circulation and inclusion on our web. Photos of Tim and Tim and Family from the Mass Book were e-mailed on 12 August 2008. May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him. Please remember Timothy, his wife and family in your prayers
Dela is going fishing on the 20 September to Fraser Island then he and Carmel are off to Croatia till 1 November 2008. Good luck with the fishing and bon voyage
Congratulations Peter
Cooper on joining Jim
Wheatley on the Nudgee Archives
Committee recently

Dela

instrumental in getting restarted at Nudgee
Look
out for the 2 Nudgee boys in the forthcoming Wallabies Test at Lang Park – Elsom
NC00 and McMeniman
NC01, the enforcers.
Bob
Ingham-Myers and wife Trish
are on a pilgrimage to The Holy Land in a bid to get a free passage through The
Pearly Gates. Bob
has the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, founded in 1099 by
the Nights Templar. Let’s hope the Arab’s don’t catch him
Tell Bob I Myers it will be a miracle if he gets in...they haven't had a lawyer in heaven since Moses was a boy.....Trish might just push him over the line....PAUL ROBINSON--- 8/9/08
Richard Tastula, who hasn't been to Brisbane for yonks, will be here in Brisbane from 27 September for a week and will attend our NC62 October Tatt's Lunch Reunion on 3 October. He is looking forward to catching up. Please pay and send the payment confirmation now
The
Brothers Rugby Club Annual Lunch
went very well on 17 September at Tatt's, at $125 a head, over 300 attended. Peter
FitzSimons was at his
humorous best and Phil Mooney
QR Queensland's Reds Coach 2008 was very incisive about the Reds past, present
and promising future, his grandfather and father played for the Reds and
Brothers. The MC was Chris
"Buddha" Hanley, himself
